Like many corporations, Radiant Systems faced the challenge of promoting health and wellness within the company to encourage employees to make better fitness and nutrition choices not only to increase their personal health, but to decrease expensive medical and pharmaceutical claims as well. Radiant formed a grass-roots initiative–Enjoy Life…Live Well, which launched company-wide in August of this year. Each office across the country enlisted a committee of volunteers who make information, programs, events and activities available to all employees through shared company Web sites. These committees develop programs based on the needs of their office, including after work fitness groups, such as Zumba® and pilates, to nutrition seminars, healthier snack machine options, local gym discounts and access to community fitness events. This program has brought together existing smaller groups of people doing activities such as walking, cycling, running, tennis and squash and made those activities available to the entire office by coordinating the participant’s schedules and sharing information on the Wellness SharePoint portal.
Radiant is proud of the company’s successful cost-free initiative to keep its employees happy and healthy both inside and outside of work. The Atlanta Business Chronicle was also impressed with Radiant’s ability to motivate employees to achieve better health, and featured Enjoy Life…Live Well in one of their weekly publications.
