Sports in many forms teach us valuable lessons that carry over to our families and professional pursuits. While Drew threw his touchdowns and Sean Payton received accolades for his timely call of a successful “Surprise onside kick,” there was a long snapper named Jason Kyle the snapped for every punt, field goal and point after touchdown.
Jason Kyle is not a name most would recognize. But one could easily assert that if he did not do his job flawlessly, the game would have turned out differently. Points hang in the balance every time a long snapper touches the ball. A long snapper is a “difference-maker.”
This is true in business. Each day at Radiant Systems, many enthusiastically contribute behind the scenes. They make winning possible. Oftentimes, their contributions go unnoticed. Yet, in truth, we could not function without the flawless execution of everyday processes that these unsung heroes drive.
This weekend we are celebrating and gathering with our Business Partners from around the world. We earnestly believe we have the most powerful group of Channel Partners in the world. There will be Presidents, CEOs, sales professionals and technical professionals along with various functional areas represented. Each organization owns stories of their own long snappers back home supporting customers and one another.
Stop and think about the individuals in your organization that do what needs to be done each day. They make victory possible. As we interact with our Partners and our team, we will be reminded that every great team needs its long snappers!
By the way, Jason Kyle was one of 38 players selected by the Cleveland Browns in the expansion draft of 1999. Today, he is the only active player that remains of the 38 drafted by the Browns in 1999. He is also now a proud owner of a Super Bowl Championship.
Long snapping for victory is good business in all walks of life!
